Fantastic. Thank you for sharing. This part hit me like a brick: "We learned early that you could be twelve and still be described like a predator." I have a very real experience with this at 12 years old. I was at a bus stop in my gi after karate class. A police car stopped, turned the lights on. Two officers got out and asked me where I had been and where I was going. They frisked me, took my duffle bag and threw everything on the ground. They told me I looked like someone who had just robbed someone else... A 12 year old in a karate uniform at a bus stop.
